Multiple flash - work diary

Within this studio shoot, we had to demonstrate we understood the technique 'multiple flash' by taking a number of different photographs that indicated multiple flash. This was the first time we had completed multiple flash and it was quite difficult in terms of thinking of different ideas. The shoot was quite repetitive due to the fact that the model had to be in a certain place in order for the camera to pick her up in the shoot. This was due to the fact that we had to do this technique in darkness which meant that it was difficult to capture the model in the lighting from the flash. I think that this technique was different from previous ones and i enjoyed it overall because of this reason. Although we had some technical issues regarding the camera itself, the shoot went quite successfully and some good and creative photographs were taken.

In this particular photograph, I asked my model to stand still and move only her hands every time the flash button was pressed. This photograph looked quite effective although it was difficult to capture all the hands within the space provided. I think that this photograph looks good in terms of being different to the rest of my photographs that I took. I think that if I were to redo this photograph, I would ensure that the model was in the best place possible and that her hands moved closer to her body. I think that it would of been better if we had a bigger space in which we could do multiple flash because it was difficult to ensure that the model kept in that specific area.

In this photograph, we can see my model filling all the thirds of the space. She starts at the top right of the screen and after three flashes, she finishes in the bottom left of the screen. This movement had been caught and looks effective against the black background. I think that this photograph is one of my better ones because it explores multiple flash in a different way but still ensures that it demonstrates the technique effectively. If I were to re-take this photograph, I would try to ensure that all of her head is in the shot (top right) to make it look more professional.
