Minimal depth of field - image bank

Within this photograph, we see two different coloured snooker balls. The one closest to the front of the photograph is yellow. The one furthest to the back is orange. The number on the yellow ball can be read whereas the number on the orange ball cannot. This is due to the fact that the orange ball is blurred. This photograph uses minimal depth of field by focusing purely on the yellow ball and therefore the orange ball becomes blurred within the photograph. The entire distance is blurred compared to the area closest to the screen - which is focused.

Within this photograph ,we can see a type of transport. From the shot provided, we can make it out to be a scooter. This photograph uses minimal depth of field by ensuring that the main subject (the scooter) is the only thing in focus within the shot. The background is blurred in order for the audience to put their attention onto the scooter. Although the background is blurred, we are able to make out that the scooter is parked on a road nearby due to the vehicles  that can be seen in the right backhand side of the shot.

Within this photograph, we can see two little puppies that are looking towards the direction of the camera lens. This photograph uses minimal depth of field in order to put the main subjects in focus within the shot. The surroundings that the two puppies are in, are blurred in order to do so. This makes the audience concentrate on the main subjects rather than anything else in the background. The photograph uses black and white to emphasise the focus that is on the puppies as that is where the eye is immediately drawn too - as there is nothing in the background to distract them.

Within this photograph, we see three green apples. The three apples are the main focus of the photograph as they are the only thing present. The background of the shot is white in order to put the focus onto the apples. This photograph is different due to the fact that one of the three apples is in focus compared to the two behind. This has been done as the photographer wanted the main focus of the shot to be only on the front apple but they wanted the audience to be aware of the other subjects within the shot - so they used minimal depth of field in order to do so.

Within this photograph, we can see the bottom half of a man's body from the waist down. This shot uses minimal depth of field in order make the main focus stand out against the background. By looking at the photograph, we are able to see that the man is standing in a street and that in the distance the street can be seen. Although we know there is a street there, we cannot see what exactly is there. This therefore makes the audience look at the man rather than what's in the background. By using minimal depth of field, the audience is able to understand what the main subject is within this photograph and where he is standing - without getting too much information on the exact details.

Within this photograph, we see a bunch of flowers that cover the entire frame of the shot. although we can see that there are quite a few in the background, there is only one specific one that stands out to the eye. This is due to the fact that the flower is closest to the camera lens and therefore the photographer has used minimal depth of field in order to make it stand out. By doing this, it captures the beauty of all the flowers but the main one which is focused on. I think that this photograph is good due to the fact that it's the most defined within the shot. The overall appearance of the shot is better in my own, due to the fact that if all the flowers were in focus, there would be too much detail to look at within the photograph.
