Slow sync - work diary

Within this shoot, we completed the studio shoot for 'slow sync.' This consisted of using the redhead and flash in order to capture the technique. We also completed studio blurring prior to this shoot. We did this because it gave us an idea of blurring in the studio - as we had only completed blurring on location. It also gave us an idea about the types of movement that work really well when it comes to blurring. I think that this shoot was interesting to do and it was something that we had not done before so it gave us new knowledge. I think that the photographs came out fairly good and I personally think that the majority of them demonstrated slow sync well.

This is one of my favourite slow sync photographs because I personally think that it shows a good demonstration of the technique. We can see that the movement.blurring is in the hands of the model and the still shot is of her face and body. The hands are the only thing that appears to be moving within this photograph and that's why I like it. I think that if I were to re-take this photograph, I would try to make the model move her hands faster in order to create even more of a blur. This would make the photograph look even better.
I also like this photograph due to the fact that the movement in the shot creates an interesting result. The shot demonstrates the use of slow sync due to the fact that the body can be seen to be sharp compared to the head and hair which can be seen to be blurred. I think that this shot works really well and I also think that this blurring contrasted against the background. The fact that the jumper that my subject is wearing a white and red jumper also worked really well in this photograph because it contrasts against the black background.

I think that if I were to develop this photo shoot further, I would complete the slow sync image bank prior to the shoot itself rather than afterwards. I think that doing research would help me a little more in doing the shoot. I would also research the best possible ways that movement and blurring works well.
